The funeral service for Sharon Knutson, 71, of Belview, will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Rock Dell Lutheran Church in rural Belview. Visitation will be Thursday, December 8, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation will continue on Friday, one hour prior to the service, 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Rock Dell Lutheran Church. Interment will follow the service in the Rock Dell Cemetery. A livestream and recording of the service will be available on the church's YouTube channel. Sharon Rae (Sietsema) Knutson was born on August 2, 1951, in Granite Falls, MN, to Delos and Florence (Freese) Sietsema. She was baptized at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Renville and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Sharon grew up and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She attended Junior College in Willmar for a short time. On October 21, 1970, she was united in marriage to Milo Knutson in Sacred Heart. The couple made their home and raised their family on a farm north of Belview. Sharon worked as a CNA and, later, as a TMA at the Parkview Home and Apartments in Belview. She also worked for a short time for Control Data, later Zytec, in Redwood Falls. Sharon enjoyed travelling, gardening, sewing, canning and babysitting. She was most passionate about time spent with grandchildren. Sharon was an active member of Rock Dell Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and participated with Ladies’ Aide. She was also active with Relay for Life. She was diagnosed with cancer in 1993 and battled courageously for many years. Sharon died on Friday, December 2, 2022, under hospice care and surrounded by family at her home north of Belview. She is survived by her husband, Milo, of Belview, son-in-law Shawn (Katrina) Boyum of Summit, SD, children Missi (Mike) Isola of Wadena, Micki (Eric) Breitsprecher of Preston, Scott (Becky) Knutson of Belview, 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, siblings Michael Sietsema, Daniel (Nancy) Sietsema, Randy (Val) Sietsema, Dawn Speiser, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jean Boyum and brother-in-law John Speiser.
