Richard A. Kotval, born November 4th 1944, passed away peacefully on December 19th, 2025 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Rich was born in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, to Marie (Wurscher) and Arnold Kotval; he was one of nine children. Rich graduated from St. Paul Central High School in 1962. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1966. He was Stationed in Babenhausen, West Germany. Rich was assigned to Battery A, 1st Battalion-36th Artillery. Upon returning home he held various jobs, Onan's Manufacturing and Archon Woodworks to name a few. He also owned and operated Ed's Tree Spade Services with his brother, Dave. Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping his Uncle Leo on his farm.

Rich is preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Marie, brother Dave, sister Linda, brother in-law Don Harder, sisters-in-law Carolyn Kotval and Chris Kotval. Rich is survived by brothers Jerry Kotval (Karen), Mike Kotval, and Dan Kotval (Cindy); sisters Kathy Harder, Pat Goranson (Nate), and Julie Kotval; and many nieces and nephews.

Rich will be laid to rest at Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Redwood Falls. Celebration of life will take place at a later date.
