The funeral service for Marvin Preuss, 87, of Belview, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Rock Dell Lutheran Church in Belview. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and will continue on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Rock Dell Lutheran Church. Interment will follow the service at the Rock Dell Lutheran Cemetery.
Marvin Arthur Preuss was born on August 26, 1939, to Raymond and Hilda (Schmidt) Preuss on the family farm in Posen Township. He attended parochial school in Posen Township and graduated from Echo High School in 1957. Marvin was united in marriage to Geraldine Huseby on September 19,1959 at Rock Dell Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Quonset Point, Rhode Island. Marvin worked several jobs. He was a Machinist at Rogers Hydraulics in Granite Falls. He later worked for Bechtel during the construction of the Nuclear Power Plant in Monticello, then drove gravel truck for Mooney’s Road Construction in Montevideo. For many years, he worked for the Southern Minnesota Sugar Beet Cooperative in Renville. He concluded his career as the Beet Piler Repair Foreman. He also farmed approximately 200 acres from 1975 – 2017.
Marvin loved farming. He also enjoyed tinkering with John Deere Tractors. At one time, he owned more than 50 2-cylinder tractors. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors. In 2018, he was diagnosed with mesothelioma.
Marvin died on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Centra Care Redwood Falls Hospital in Redwood Falls, MN. He is survived by his son Michael (Mary) Preuss of Belview, granddaughter Melissa; son Mark (Lisa) Preuss of Becker, MN, grandchildren Adam (Jessica), Eric (Jamie), Michelle; daughter Kari (Wayne) Rigge of Echo; grandchildren John (Laura) Rigge, Graham (Kendra) Rigge, Leah (Brett) Holwerda; great-grandchildren Judah, Elias, Royce, Carver, Kyrie, Piper, Poppy, Paris, Posey, Bentley, Hudson, Lincoln and Knox. Also survived by his siblings Dennis Preuss, Bernadine Seehusen, Ardell (Bonnie) Preuss, Lee (Bonnie) Preuss, Ranae Edwards, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Geraldine, brother Delroy, sister Linda Enger and other relatives and friends.
