The funeral service for Janice “Jan” Busack, 79, of Granite Falls, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Christ’s Victory Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Following a funeral luncheon, interment will be at the Echo City Cemetery in Echo.

Janice “Jan” (Ericsson) Busack was born on January 3, 1947, in Sioux City, IA, to Lester and Maxine (Kaus) Ericsson. She grew up and attended school in Sioux City. After high school, she attended Wayne State College in Nebraska before transferring to St. Cloud State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. On November 1, 1969, Jan was united in marriage to Ernest “Ernie” Busack. The couple lived in Osseo for a time before moving to Olivia in 1972, then Echo in 1975. Jan taught at the Olivia Elementary School for 30 years, then subbed at the Echo Charter School after retirement.

Jan enjoyed working with her hands, especially crocheting, basket weaving, and pottery. She also could be found golfing, reading, or canning. She was very involved in her church community. Jan and Ernie enjoyed traveling together, making it to 43 states and Sweden. The also spent ten winters in Arizona, and they were members of the local “Young Couples Club.” Jan’s greatest love was her family, and she cherished time spent together.

Jan died in the loving arms of her husband, surrounded by their loving children, on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her husband Ernie Busack, Jr., of Granite Falls; daughter Christine (Jeff) Hartke of Buffalo; son Daniel (AnnMarie) Busack of Blaine; grandchildren Brianna (Nicholas) Pegelow, their daughter Delaney, of Flower Mound, TX, Hunter (McKenzie) Hartke of St. Louis Park, Max Hartke of Buffalo, Ella Busack of Osceola, WI, and Olivia Busack of Blaine; siblings Lawrence (Sandra) Ericsson, Patricia Ericsson, Kenneth (Yolanda) Ericsson, Valerie (John) Reynolds, and Eric (Nilanga) Ericsson; and Swedish foreign exchange student Ragnhild Fernlund. She was preceded in death by her parents.
