Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Rock Dell Cemetery. Darlene Cleopha Wilma (Werner) Milbradt was born on August 17, 1930, in Vesta, to Harry and Wilma Meta (Viergutz) Werner. Darlene grew up on farms near Vesta and attended school in Echo. After graduating from Echo High School, she worked at the Redwood Gazette for a time. On March 12, 1950, Darlene was married to James “Jim” Milbradt at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo. The couple made their home on a farm west of Echo until 1966, when they moved to their farm in Swedes Forest Township near Belview where they raised their five children. After Jim’s death in 1994, Darlene bought a home in Echo where she lived until 2012. She then moved to Village Park Town Homes in Belview for a number of years before moving to Parkwood Apartments assisted living and finally Parkview Senior Living in 2019. Darlene was an active member of Rock Dell Lutheran Church since 1966 and was a faithful Christian servant in her everyday life. She was church organist for well over 40 years. She was also active in Ladies Aid, Bethany Auxiliary, taught Sunday School, and helped with Vacation Bible School. In her younger years she taught piano, and she enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and traveling with Jim. First and foremost she was a farm wife, helping Jim out in the fields every spring and fall. She also cared for many of her grandchildren while their parents worked in the fields. This was very special to her. Darlene died peacefully on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Parkview Senior Living in Belview. She is survived by her children David (significant other Alicia Reynaga) Milbradt of Echo, Ruth (Brad) Wallingford of Gold Beach, OR, Mary McDonnell of Vancouver, WA, and Paul (Kim) Milbradt of Belview; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, son Dan, brothers Virgil and Bob Werner, and sister Bernell Joel. The family extends a special thanks to the professional and caring folks at Parkwood and Parkview. She is finally at peace with her beloved Jim. Blessed be her memory.
