Adolph “Ade” Stephen Bernardy was born on December 5, 1929, on a farm outside of Lucan to John and Catherine (Manderscheid) Bernardy. He spent his childhood helping with the family farm near Lucan until eventually moving onto what became the Bernardy family farm located just south of Seaforth. He attended grade school in Seaforth and eventually went on to graduate from Wabasso High School. Ade was drafted in December 1951 into the United States Marine Corps, serving in San Francisco during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm. Ade and Lavonne were united in marriage on September 10, 1960, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Together they shared over 55 beautiful years together. Their devotion to one another was evident to all those who knew them. The couple made their home on a farm near Seaforth in Vail Township. Ade was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and American Legion Post #275.

Ade looked forward to Canadian fishing trips. Worldwide travel was something he and Lavonne loved to do. Hobbies were a big part of his life especially gardening, canning, and quilting for the church. He was always up for a game of cards and would never turn down the opportunity to work on a puzzle. Ade especially enjoyed time spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren. He particularly loved it when the entire family gathered annually at the lake to form new memories together. Ade was a quiet man who was never one to complain but always had a gentle spirit noticed by all those around him. He was content and grateful for his life and loved ones. In March 2020, Ade moved to Lakeville to be closer to family.

Ade died on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at his residence in Lakeville. He is survived by his children Steven (Cynthia) Bernardy of Wooster, OH, Gordon (Laurie) Bernardy of St. Peters, MO, Sharon (Ross) Patullo of Lakeville, and Dale (Amy) Bernardy of Ham Lake; grandchildren Kristin (Jacob) Adams, Alissa (Keith) Osborn, Brianna (Zachary) Hurst, Tyler (Amy) Bernardy, Austin Bernardy, Andrew (Isabella) Patullo, Alex Patullo, Sarah Patullo, Emily Patullo, Isaac Patullo, Samuel Patullo, Leo Bernardy, Josephine Bernardy, Jewel Harris, and Reed Harris; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Marvin Bernardy; as well as other relatives and friends.
