Jack Dean Large

Jack D. Large, age 84, of Marshall, formerly of Wabasso passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Marshall Avera Medical Center in Marshall, MN. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Sunset Funeral Home in Wabasso. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 also at the funeral home and will continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Redwood Falls. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association of Echo & Wabasso are handling the arrangements for the family. Online condolences may be placed for the family at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com Jack Dean Large was born on August 22, 1928 to Charles and Edna (Burkart) Large in Osage, Minnesota. He grew up in Pine River, MN and attended the Pine River Public Schools. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. In 1947, Jack entered the United States Army in Fort Knox, Kentucky and trained to become a MP for the Army. Jack received his honorable discharge in 1951. On June 30, 1951, Jack married the love of his life, Dolores Barnum, in Marshall, Minnesota. They made their home in Wabasso where Jack worked as an independent fertilizer contractor with the Farm Bureau, Kerr McGee and Williams Brothers. He also hauled grain for farmers of Redwood County. Jack enjoyed hunting, especially deer, fishing, cutting wood, loved to watch Nascar, go to sprint car races in Jackson, Baseball, and loved his hunting dogs, playing cards at the Cenex Station with his friends and loved spending time with his family. On Friday, September 21, 2012 Jack passed away at the Marshall Avera Medical Center in Marshall, Minnesota at the age of 84 years old. Jack is survived by his two children, Patricia (Doug) Johnson of Brandon, MN and Greg (Pam) Large of Marshall, MN; one sister, Ethel Rae of Annandale, MN; one brother, Ray Large of Pine River, MN; four grandchildren, Deana (Chad) Hausmann of St. Joseph, MN, Nicole Large of Plymouth, MN, Shane (Angie) Johnson of St. Joseph, MN and Britney Large of Plymouth, MN; three great grandchildren, Alex and Elise Hausmann and Caeleb Saad El-Dein. His parents, wife Dolores, and three brothers, Amos, Charles Jr. and Joseph Large preceded him in death. Blessed be the memory of Jack.
