John G. Price

John G. Price, age 91, of Wabasso, MN passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Wabasso. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 14, 2012 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment with military honors will be at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery following Mass. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso is handling the arrangements for the family. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com John Gerald Price was born on November 22, 1920 to John and Magdalen (Schwengle) Price on the family farm in Waterbury Township, Redwood County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. John attended country school and Wabasso Public High School graduating in 1939. He then attended Duluth Junior College. In 1942, John was drafted into the United States Army and served his country four years before being honorably discharged in March of 1946. On April 30, 1949, John was united in marriage to Marcelyn Wagner at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. They made their home on a farm three miles south of Wabasso where John farmed his entire life. John was a lifelong member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and was active in the church choir and as an usher. He was also a member of the Catholic Aid, American Legion and an original member of the Wabasso Lions Club. John enjoyed fishing, square dancing, going for walks, music, traveling and spending time with his family. On Tuesday, September 11, 2012, John passed away at the Golden Living Center in Wabasso at the age of 91. He will be greatly missed by many. John is survived by his children, John (Wendy) Price of Eden Prairie, Joel (Debbie) Price of Byron, Douglas (Kathy) Price of Eagan, Mark (Madonna) Price of Vadnais Heights, Anthony (Lauree) Price of Wabasso, Gregory (Debra) Price of Wabasso, Kathleen (Joel) Baggenstoss of Apple Valley, Roger (Carolyn) Price of Sioux City, IA, Susan (John) Hilgert of Bird Island and Ralph (Jean) Price of Lamberton; two sisters, Marian Redig of Alexandria and Doris Petracek of Belview; two brothers, Bill Price of West St. Paul and Thomas Price of Hudson, WI; twenty four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; son-in-law, Jerry Dvorak, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. His parents, wife Marcelyn, three daughters, Barbara Dvorak, Nancy and Angela Price, granddaughter, Samantha Price, brothers, Donald, Edward and James Price, and sisters, Audrey Pistulka, Donna Price and Marjorie Price preceded him in death.
