Floyd Allen Schmidt

Floyd Allen Schmidt, age 94 1/2, of Renville, Minnesota, formerly of Belview, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Renvilla Nursing Home in Renville, Minnesota. Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Renville. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Belview City Cemetery. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. Floyd Allen Schmidt was born on December 21, 1917 to George and Emma (Lemke) Schmidt on the family farm in Todd County, Minnesota. He was baptized at Eagle Bend Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend, Minnesota and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Seaforth. He attended District #80 Country School and later attended Ag School in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. On October 6, 1946, Floyd was united in marriage to Lois Johnson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnsonville Township, Redwood County, Minnesota. They made their home in the Belview area where they farmed. Floyd served as a church financial officer and was on the Kintire Township Board. He was currently a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Renville. Floyd loved farming, building things, especially machinery, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. On July 15, 2012, Floyd passed away at the Renvilla Nursing Home in Renville, Minnesota at the age of 94 1/2. Floyd is survived by his wife Lois; children, Faye Schmidt of Renville, Minnesota, Vicki [Jim]Hoffman of Starbuck, Minnesota, and Linda [Kevin] Kroschel of Sandstone, Minnesota; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Sara Schmidt, Claudia [Mike] Schroeder (Isaiah, Spencer, Jaxon, McKenna), Maria Schmidt, Yolanda[Andrew] Dahlen (Ethan, Preston), Mery [Kenneth] Montague (Obadiah, Josiah, Micaiah, Nehemiah, Sophia), Tanya Hoffman, James Hoffman, Josie Hoffman, Damien [Vanessa] Hoffman (Porter, Aurelia), Talia [Nick] Hoffman (Bromli), Dylan Hoffman, Jada Hoffman, Jacob Schmidt (Addison), Kyle Schmidt, Zakery [Lisa] Kroschel (Collin, Owen, Reid), and Shana [Tony] Stiel (Griffin, Nolan, Brittyn). His parents, son Alan, sister, Hazel Boklep and brothers, Harold and Walter preceded him in death. Blessed be his memory.
