Earl Schlemmer, age 83, of Echo, passed away March 2, 2012, at Parkview Nursing Home in Belview. Services will be held Monday, March 5, 2012 at11:00 a.m. from Peace Lutheran Church in Echo, with burial in the Vesta cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday March 4, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. with 6 p.m. prayer service at Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service Monday, March 5, 2012 at the church. Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso are in charge of the arrangements. Earl Albert Schlemmer was born on August 19, 1928 in Underwood Township, Redwood County, Minnesota to Albert and Lydia (Weimeier) Schlemmer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Posen Township. Earl attended Echo Public School and graduated in 1947. From January 1951 to November 1952 he was a member of the Redwood Falls National Guard and served in the Korean Conflict. On March 12, 1954 Earl was united in marriage to Trylis Lossow at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo. He was a farmer and spent 51 years farming in Underwood Township. Earl liked to hunt, enjoyed his motorcycles and reading. Earl passed away on March 2, 2012 at Parkview Nursing Home in Belview attaining the age of 83 years, 6 months and 12 days. He is survived by his wife Trylis of Echo, children; Gail Bernardy of Urbandale, IA, Lori (Ken) Discher of Des Moines, IA, Amy (Charles) Magnuson of Marshall and Layne (Tanya) Schlemmer of Flower Mound, TX, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Audrey McCoy of Glenwood and sister-in-law Norma Schlemmer. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gene, brother-in-law Gordon McCoy and great grandson Nathan Bernardy. Blessed be his memory.
