Louis Plaetz, age 91, of Wabasso passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 at his residence. Services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, March 15, 2012 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be from 5 – 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM and a CCW rosary service to follow on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Church and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association is in charge of the arrangements. Louis “Louie” Plaetz was born on February 9, 1921 to Carl and Caroline (Vogl) Plaetz on the family farm in Redwood county, Granite Rock township. He was baptized at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan and was confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seaforth. On May 28, 1946 Louie married Lucille Remiger at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. They spent most of their years in the Vail Township where Louie farmed. In 1992, Louie retired and they moved into Wabasso. Louie was a devoted member of St. Anne’s and was always willing to help out when he was needed. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, had a passion for farming, enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and following the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Louie passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 on the family farm at the age of 91 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Lucille; his children Joyce (Dick) Seitz of Lafayette, Carol Peterson of Rosemont, Marie Plaetz of Wabasso, Leon (Joyce) Plaetz of Wabasso, Nancy (Yoseph) Tedros of Cape Coral, FL and Bruce (Sherry) Plaetz of Wabasso; sisters Hannah Storm of Winona, Margaret Brown of New Ulm and Delores Frericks of Wanda; 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Joan Remiger of Wabasso and Louise (John) Rice of Hanley Falls. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Frank, Carl, Bernard and Lawrence, sisters Caroline and Betty, grandson Joe Peterson, great-grandson Michael Peterson and son-in-law Robert Peterson.
