Richard Wilkening

Richard Wilkening, age 66, of Wood Lake, passed away January 14, 2012, at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the church. Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso are in charge of the arrangements. Richard Michael Wilkening was born on November 8, 1945 in Wood Lake to Walter and Mabel (Plath) Wilkening. He graduated from Wood Lake High School. In 1965 he entered the United States Air Force. Then in 1969 he moved to Reno, NV. Richard returned to Wood Lake in 2005 He was widowed in 2010. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and bowling along with watching or listening to the Minnesota Twins. Richard especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Richard Wilkening passed away on January 14, 2012 at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield attaining the age of 66 years, 2 months and 6 days. He is survived by his daughters; Joya (Tony) Machabee of Springfield, VA and Brandi Macleod of Reno, NV, grandchildren Luke and Eden Machabee. Also surviving are siblings; Walt Wilkening of Clarkfield, Rob Wilkening of Rochester, MI, Belva (Vern) Timm of Belview, Sharon (Jim) Opheim of Buffalo and Lois (Ralph) Kinney of Courdelaine, ID. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, brothers Earl and Donald Wilkening and his sister Shirley Wilkening. Blessed be his memory.
