Leah Rose Zwach was born on May 6, 1918 to Henry and Josephine (Starken) Gorres on the family farm SE of Wanda, Minnesota in Redwood County, Willow Lake Township. She attended Wanda Public School and was baptized and confirmed at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda.

On January 27, 1941, Leah married Henry Zwach at the St. Mathias Catholic church in Wanda. They then moved to a farm south of Milroy where they made their home until retiring in 1979 and moving into Milroy. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy and was active in Circle One of the CCW. She also was involved with the Senior Center in Milroy and the Birthday Club. After Henry’s death in 1984, she remained at home until 1998 when she moved to Tracy in the O’Brien Court. In 1999, she moved to the Boulder Estates in Marshall and in 2000 she moved to the Tracy Nursing Home and then To Prairie View Nursing Home in Tracy until her passing.

Leah enjoyed gardening, flowers, embroidery, sewing, puzzles, loved to cook, especially baking cakes, bowling, dancing and traveling. She liked to go to the Dairy Queen for strawberry sundaes and going to A&W to buy root beer to make her children root beer floats. She loved to laugh and tell jokes but could sometimes be a little feisty. She will be dearly missed by her loving family.

Leah is survived by her five children, Diane (Dennis) Sweely of Brownton, MN, Carol (Allen) Schmidt of Marshall, MN, Judy (Dennis) Ozmun of Minneota, MN, Joseph Zwach of Walnut Grove, MN and Joni (Michael) Baune of Vesta, MN; 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Joyce Gorres, Doris Zwach, Bernice Zwach and Carol Kesteloot.
